I finally had some time to restyle the photo home page.
Now it display additional information about every section of the site, a random picture from the gallery, the last entry in the photoblog and the first picture attached to the last Camera Obscura article. Additionally the new photo home page include directly the most recent activities in the News, Photoblog and Camera Obscura section of the site.
Furthermore all the feeds (excluding users comments) of the different section of the site are aggregated using a Yahoo Pipe and Feedburner, in this way you can subscribe to a unique photo feed to stay up to date with everything new on Fabiano Busdraghi photography page.

Some days ago I received this mail:
I work at the Saatchi Gallery and am writing to you to congratulate you on having been chosen to have one of your photographs on the Saatchi Online Wall, which is part of the prestigious Sony World Photography Awards taking place in Cannes later this month. We have made a selection of just 100 photographs to be presented on the Saatchi Online Wall out of the 1000 most highly rated entries. [...]
The Sony Photography Awards exhibitions, including the Saatchi Online Wall, will open on 20 April. [...] We anticipate thousands of people coming to see the exhibition and your work! Photographs of the Saatchi Online Wall will be published on Saatchi Online’s Magazine after the close of the 2008 Sony Awards at the end of April.
The nice thing is that I’m not obliged to print one of the photos selected in the short list of WPA, but I have the freedom to choose another picture.
I have therefore prepared a personal page on the website of the Saatchi Gallery and chose to print Moloch, a photograph of demons, to be exposed in Cannes.

The interview covers several topics: my biography, some recent works and projects for the future, discussion about art, music and contemporary photography, the role of the Internet in diffusion of information, why I use ancient techniques of printing and write a blog about photography.

Yesterday I received an e-mail with a really good news. A photo, that a few months ago I’ve sent to the Sony World Photography Awards, has been rated amongst the top ten photographers by the World Photographic Academy. On April 14 they will communicate the three finalists names.
A few minutes after I received a second mail: another photo that I sent for the portraits category has also been selected among the top ten photography. This is a great news!

I was still experiencing terrible performances on the photoblog and I also had some theme problem, thus I spent the last few days working on it.
I updated Yapb, the really nice plugins used to convert Wordpress into a complete photoblog system. This solved all the performance issues: the site now is really faster, especially showing thumbnails.
I also wrote a new theme. Light and minimalistic, halfway between the Carbon theme of the Gallery and Camera Obscura. Thanks to this update, after some weeks down, the tag navigation system is finally back again and full working.

I was experiencing some performance problems with my photoblog. Posts and archives loaded too slowly and the home page was quite long.
Today I switched to a new theme with fast load of thumbnails and only one photo per page. In this way the daily picture is bigger and has more visibility in the photoblog home page. If you still experience some problems please let me know.
